What Debts Are Discharged?
What Debts Are Not Discharged?
"Discharged" means you get out of
the debt in bankruptcy and
basically do not owe it anymore.
Dischargeable debts include money
judgments, short-term small loans,
medical debts, credit cards, and
deficiency balances owed due to
repossession or foreclosure.
Student loans, child support past or
present, personal injury due to drunk
driving while under the influence of
alcohol or drugs, and most taxes.
Also not discharged are loans
secured by collateral that you
reaffirm. If you want to keep your car
or house and owe money on it, you
continue to pay for it.

We have clients from all
over the state. Most are
local and, even if not,
wish to meet me in
person. However, we
can do business by mail
and need not meet until
Court if transportation or
distance is a problem.
About every other week, someone I never met in person mails me a completed
interview form and documentation to prepare a bankruptcy. As long as I can
ask you questions by e-mail or phone, it's not a problem for me to not meet
you until when we appear in Court." - Joel K. Mitchell, Attorney-at-Law
